Canitrail Tour at Vogelsberg, Hoherodskopf, and Niddaquelle - Discover the secrets of Vogelsberg with us!
Experience unique canitrail adventures in Vogelsberg with your four-legged friend, offered especially in spring, autumn, and winter. Each season has its own charm, but winter transforms the landscape into a magical winter wonderland, making for a very special running event. Often, snow covers the trails, and we start in the late afternoon to run into the twilight - equipped with headlamps that illuminate our way back through the snow.
Embark on an unparalleled adventure with your four-legged friend and explore the breathtaking landscapes of Vogelsberg, Hoherodskopf, and the Nidda source. Our Canitrail tours start from the hiking parking lot Geotop Bilstein, an ideal starting point for explorations in the heart of this unique natural region.
On routes ranging from 10 to 18 kilometers in length, we guide you through the diverse home and training trails that we know like the back of our hand. These paths are not only part of our daily training but also the venue for the famous Vulcanicross, an event that celebrates the beauty and challenge of the volcanic landscape of Vogelsberg.
Running community over competition!
On this tour, the shared experience is what matters most. It's not about who crosses the finish line first, but about the fun and camaraderie with other dog-human teams. We offer three different running groups to ensure everyone can participate, regardless of fitness level:
- Running Group: For those who wish to run most of the distance.
- Run & Hike Group: A balanced mix of running and hiking.
- Powerwalk Group: Here, we briskly walk without running.
Each group is accompanied by experienced guides who are there to support you throughout the entire tour, answer questions, and are happy to check your equipment before we start.

Equipment
The required equipment is the same as for Canicross: a running belt for you and a suitable harness and towline for your dog. These can also be borrowed from us if needed. Additionally, good running shoes with strong grip, preferably trail running shoes, are important. Furthermore, we recommend a trail running backpack (vest) to carry water, bars, treats, first aid, and possibly a collapsible bowl for the dog. Depending on the weather, we also recommend a rain or wind jacket.
All dogs welcome
Every dog is warmly welcomed with us, as long as they are physically capable of completing the course. If your dog has issues with other dogs, our guides will ensure sufficient distance and safety. If necessary, running with a muzzle is also an option.
Cozy conclusion
After the tour, we invite you to a cozy get-together with warm punch and snacks. Our team is available for questions and exchanges and is happy to take another look at your equipment. Moreover, we are pleased to present the latest products from our shop.
